On March 29, 2023, Discord discovered that the third-party customer service provider used to address certain user requests was compromised and began investigating. An unauthorized person gained access to the account of an agent of this service provider and accessed some of the agent’s support tickets. Discord finished its investigation on June 13, 2023, and determined that some user’s personal information may have been compromised, including:
- Name
- Driver’s License Number or Non-Driver Identification Card Number
Discord notified the users whose personal information was compromised on August 21, 2023. If you’ve received notice from Discord that your personal information was compromised, consider doing certain things to protect your personal information:
- Change your passwords and security information for online accounts;
- Review your account statements for unauthorized activity;
- Monitor your credit reports for signs of identity theft;
- Contact the credit bureaus to request a temporary fraud alert;
- Carefully review the notice you received from Discord;
- Keep a copy of the notice for your records; and
- Enroll in the credit monitoring and identity theft services offered in the notice from Discord.
