On June 4, 2019, a court in Travis County, Texas ruled that the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between the Austin Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 975, and the City of Austin does not violate the Texas constitution’s “gift clause.”

IAFF Local 2945 engaged in negotiations with the City of Fulton, MO. As required, the agreement negotiated by the Local and City negotiating team was submitted to the City Council for approval. During the Council meeting, City officials did not approve the agreement and the City Council voted to reject the agreement.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Chicago Region misclassified two GS-11-809 Construction Control Representatives as FLSA Exempt, denying them true time and one half overtime. The employees filed a complaint in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and following settlement, were ultimately paid backpay and liquidated damages for the FLSA violation.

On November 6, 2018, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit rejected the United States Capitol Police’s attempt to avoid arbitrators’ ability to review cases challenging improper terminations of Capitol Police officers. In United States Capitol Police v. Office of Compliance, The Court ruled that the United States Capitol Police was required to bargain with the FOP/U.S.

The plaintiffs — current and former workers at restaurants run by Farmers Restaurant Group LLC — urged a Washington, D.C., federal judge Tuesday to preliminarily approve the deal, which would settle their class and collective claims. The workers said 962 class members could get a piece of the settlement fund, and that the deal was reasonable and fair.
